So, how is your 2025 shaping up?
Yes, I realize it’s mid-March.
However, lots of 2025 remains. Lots of time for you to grow and make an impact.
All the start-of-the-year fanfare is well over. Now that things have settled and we are into 2025, let’s take an unforced look back and a look ahead.
“2024 is going to be crazy”, I wrote directly to friends and acquaintances at the end of 2023
Was it? U.S. politics certainly was “eventful”.
We have experienced many changes in the past year. There’s more to come in 2025 and beyond: socially, economically, financially, technologically. We are on the precipice of great change.
When you “look back” at the year, what is your point of reference? School, work, family, world events?
Is there a baseline?
For me, it’s world events. 2024 especially the US presidential election. It was hard to avoid. Historic, dramatic, important and vastly entertaining. best show on “television”. The events, themselves but also the media. How the commercial and independent media cover the election. But that’s a different story.
How about YOU?
How goes your journey? How have YOU grown?
You’ve changed.
If you are the same person now that you were at the start of 2024, you have let yourself down.
Here are some ways you might have grown and changed in the past year:
Emotionally
You became more confident and secure, or improved your mental health. You opened up to someone, asked for advice, or acted on life advice. You have heightened your awareness of yourself and how you communicate with others.
Intellectually
You learned new things. (definitely) Books are articles read. Courses taken and completed. Discussions you had over coffee. All the countless podcasts and videos you explored over the past year. And, all the stuff you just figured out on your own.
Mentally
You became mentally tougher and more resilient. You may have faced adversity and challenging tasks, but learned that any pain was temporary, you got through it and came out stronger. You rose to the challenge. And, whether or not you “succeeded”, you learned. We are all on the Hero’s Journey.
Professionally
You changed jobs, industries, or “place”. You might have found a career that interests you, gives you a sense of purpose, and allows you to impact a cause that is important to you. Still in the same position? You learned and explored new ways to work and communicate more effectively. You watched and responded to changes in your organization and industry.
See? You’ve grown.
Me?
Thanks for asking.
Same home. Same jobs at the same schools. Many of the same habits. But I am not the same person. I have grown. I’ve done some new stuff.
Learning. Knowledge. Experience.
One year older. You only get so many trips around the Sun. ← heard this somewhere, and used it recently and was asked what it means. A trip around the Sun = Earth traveling around the Sun = 1 year
Yes, but…
So, yes, you’ve grown, but where are you headed? Where will you be a year from now? Without a vision, goal and a plan you are not likely to get anywhere.
And, not the goal and plan your organization gives you. What is YOUR goal and plan?

About ONE
In the age of TL;DR, ONE offers a brief capture of what’s necessary for YOU. Longer than a tweet, shorter than an article yet beyond a snapshot or quick video. ONE is 1-page. A quick, meaningful & thoughtful read.
